92 Degrees

Chelsea Slater

92 degrees coffee, oh how we love the smell as we walk past on Hardman street, how we long for that warm, roasted drink every morning to "get us going" and the vegan flapjacks that are meant to be a treat but that treat turns into a daily one!

We are over the moon that 92 have now joined us in our store, we don't need to walk up the hill anymore we just open the shop and the coffee is there waiting for us. We spoke to the guys behind their concept and why they wanted to join us on Bold Street...

So, 92 degrees is now in-store at REX. What made you want to have a 2nd base inside our concept store?

We were already big fans of REX. You guys are fun, creative and passionate about exploring new ground and that resonates with us. We're also really excited to be on Bold Street which is so buzzing at the moment.

What's unique about 92 degrees?
92 Degrees is the only cafe in Liverpool which roasts its own coffee. When you visit 92 Degrees at REX, the coffee will have been freshly roasted just up the road on Hardman Street. We're independently run, and we use only the best and ethically sourced coffee beans.

If you could serve coffee to ANYONE in the world who would it be?
Ooh, not sure...in a parallel world it would have to be Twin Peaks' Agent Dale Cooper.

If you could pick one album you had to play on repeat all day what would it be and why?
'Keep it unreal' by Mr Scruff. He's someone we all admire at 92 Degrees, it's an eclectic enough sound for most customers to enjoy, and he's got a lovely cafe in Manchester, so we're clearly kindred spirits!

What inspired you to have a coffee shop?
A visit to San Francisco. Places like Philz, Blue Bottle and Four Barrel - they each have a distinct style of their own and are lovely places to spend time in, but most of all they make beautiful, fresh coffee. We wanted to bring a little of that home with us, striving not only to serve delicious drinks and snacks, but to react to the environment of our cafes. Our first shop in the Old Blind School let's the classic, airy architecture speak for itself. We're so excited to now open in REX and be a part of the vibrant and modern concept store, and really have fun with it.

What's in store for the future? Any exciting plans?
We're looking forward to our upcoming roasting experience workshops on 29th April / 1st May
at our Hardman Street store and we're taking part in LightNight on May 13th across both cafes. Watch this space for more events at 92 Degrees in REX!

Go on, what should we order?
Anything you want...within reason! Don't be afraid to ask - we'll make it just how you like it.

Give 92 a follow on twitter and maybe even give them a visit to celebrate!
